To let the other win???

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what happened to me a few days ago. I was as usual doing my best on every game I play, no matter the rating of the other guy, well, I joined a tournament where i knew there will be very good players.. or at least high rated players, so i played and win a few, lose some others, and others were quite tough.. eating pieces from both sides, and sometimes I was in dangerSealed ..but fighting, suddenly there were some moves were I though "this is over"Cry but kept fighting and thinking of the puzzles and the "best move" wasn't so obvious, so I decided to risk some pieces.. somehow this resulted into good moves and to something I didn't expect: "i will be very thankful if you give this game to me" and reasons of why he needed to qualify to the next round..

So I thought that with my rating I don't get to the next round and he does, maybe I can help him, anyway it is just a game, and if he asked that, it's because it's important to him and maybe I just want to help and be "good" to him, and I think asking for such a thing is as good as a resignation. On the other side I can tell that getting those 45 rating points for winning the game are very tempting...

So I don't know what should I do, maybe I should be selfish and get that points, or maybe I should help him and let him win.. What should you do?? Have you ever been in a situation like this??

please any advice will be very grateful..Laughing
