# How to read/write Binary!

I have already post this in two group but i thought i would post it in my blog so others may see it as well.

First off write down this list:

And now copy down this table

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

**Okay now that you have the table and list do this.**

**Pick a letter for this I will chose a capital "H". Look at what number is with the letter for "H" the number 72, Now look at the number 128 on the table if and see if 128 goes into 72. 128 goes into 72 0 times so on your table you write a 0 beneath the table so it should look like this**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

**Now look at 64 and see if 64 can go into 72.64 can go into 72. So we do 72-64=8. Now write a 1 beneath the 64 and the number 8 is what we use now.this is what your table should look like now.**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 **

**Now we see if 32 can go into 8. It can't so we place a 0 under the 32**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

**We look at 16 and see if it can go into 8.it can't so we place a 0 under the 16.**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0**

**We look at the 8 and see if it can go into the 8. 8 can go into to 8 1 time with the remainder 0.So we place a 1 under the 8**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0 1 **

**Now we have 0 so we see if 4 can go into 0 it can't so we place a 0 under the 4.**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0 1 0**

**We see if 2 can go into 0. It can't so we place a 0 under the 2.**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0 1 0 0**

**We see if 1 can go into 0. It can't so we place a 0 under the 1.**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 0**

**So this is the letter "H" in binary "01001000". You use the same method for all the other letters. **

**This is how you read binary.**

**Let's just say we want to know what letter this is '01000110' We move that number under the table the first number goes under 128 the second under 64 etc so it should look like this**

**128| 64| 32| 16| 8| 4| 2| 1|**

** 0 1 0 0 0 1 1 0**

**Whatever numbers the 1s are under add them up so for this we would add 64+4+2=70. Since that equals 70 we look at our list and see which letter is 70 and 70 is 'F'.**
