002. Pawn endgames - The square rule - Puzzels
A similar puzzle, but this time the passer wins.
White to move and 1-0
The next puzzle is not so easy. But Grigorieff's puzzles are never easy. At least you can see how difficult pawn endgames can be.
In the next (and final puzzle) the square rule also plays an important role.
A few tips:
Black threatens 1... Kg3 followed by h7-h5-h4-h3-h2#. But after Kxg2 follows 1... Kg5 and Black comes to the a-pawn via the 8th rank.
So somehow White has to sacrifice a few pawns to block the way for the Black king. Now all you have to do is play everything in the right order.![]()
