Have any of you guys been watching the candidates? I picked fabi to win before it started. I think alot of people were riding the "hype train" behind alireza, and not to say hes undeserving, he had an incredible rub to break 2800, but being so young and going up against the best of the best every round i didnt thibk he would fair to well, which he hasnt been. Im sure he was playing extremely talented players when he made the run fro. 2700-2800 but i dont think he played a single person in the candidates. But i thibk EVERYONE slept on nepo. I didnt hear anyone give a predixtion of him winning, im assumed that was based on his championship match agaibst magbus where after that legendary game 6 he conpletely crumbled and was a shell of himself, but after today u less fabi can pull of a HUGE win and beat nepo tomorrow it looks like nepos gonna run away with this thing. , i picked fabi to win, and had neponand hikaru as my wildcards. For nepo it was a matter of which nepo would show up and if he he could it together mentally which he has. His prep and the way hes been playing is going to be extremely hard for anyone to beat him in a game, and unless fabi or hikaru can pull out a couple wins in the last rounds and nepo draws it might already be over. I was kind of hoping rapport would have to tournament of his life and win just because his chess is sonfun to watch, but if were being honest even thoigh hes one of the most creative and tactical and exciting players in the world. U put him across the board from magnus and i think every game woukd be decided by move 40. Magnus is habds down the best player in the world and his preparation is second to none, i think he and fabi have some of the best prep for these high level tournaments. And last championship match he had dubov at his disposal as well? Yeah good luck beatibg magbus wheb dubov is on his team and not even his second. But anyways, i dont think anyone wants to see magnus vs nepo round 2, although i wouldnt mind. As long as nepo doesnt fall apart after 1 loss, a loss that turned out to be the longest in history. All i know is magnus better play this chanpionship match this year. He needs to come out and say what hes doing NOW before a pkayer is determined from thr candidates. If he decides not to play itll be a travesty.
