If you want to deal with d4 in a unique way then benoni defence is good choice for you .

Let's jump into the topic without wasting time.

The opening moves for Benoni defence are :

Here after c5 white has two options to take the C pawn or push the pawn
If he ignores and pushes the pawn to c5 we have a sharp gambit line - The Benko Gambit (B5)but for now we are not going to see that.
Here I prefer d6 which is my choice but if you want then you can play e6 which is the modern variation .
In this blog we will see d6
After d6
The position would look cramped but you would have good attack on the center and queenside ,
So after d6 this is how you will plan , The move order can be different but  this structure is good for black .
Some Key concepts of Benoni Defence
  1. Do not exchange your dark square bishop NEVER!
  2. Try to exchange your opponent's light squared bishop ,If that bishop gets exchanged with a knight then it is good for you.
  3. Try to attack the c pawn .
  4. Remember you don't have space so trading could be good for you but while doing so keep above points in mind.
But What if he plays something like trompowosky(Bg5) or london (Bf4)
Against London you can go for KID and anti london, Against the london system Benoni could be used but is not effective.
