Hi!

After a rather exhausting trip I'm finally home. I had a good time, met some cool new people, and did a lot of stuff that's not supposed to be repeated here. I'm not typically a homesick person, but given what happened within the family in the week before I took off, I was quite happy to return home. To eat from my own table, to sleep in my own bed, and to have the water from my own shower flushing down on me again like the soothing cascade that it always is.

As for the situation at home, I had kept in regular contact with everyone, and things have been taken care of properly. At no point did I have to worry, and that's really a relief.

The train ride back was okay, with two guys travelling along for a bit. One of them was still entwined with his phone, so there was hardly any talking from him. The other guy was somewhat more present, but also rather tired. He wanted to jot down some notes as well, and I didn't want to distract him while he was at it, so I spent most of the time alternating between trying to solve puzzles and trying not to fall asleep. Listening to Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch did help to some extent.

There's something funnily reassuring about being in the ride that takes you to your final destination. Like, with every other transportation you feel like you still have to do something. There's always some stress involved, but once you've made the final connection and are in the train or couch home, no matter how far you'd go, you always feel like "Nice, I'm almost there."

As soon as you cross the threshold of your house, your trip is officially over. Everything that you experienced has now been submitted to the archives of your life. It's all a memory from this point on. Your life takes off where you left the bookmark, your daily rhythm sets back in, and all is back to normal. I believe that this has to do with the fact that your memories are always tied to the places where they took place.

Maybe you still feel one more sting the next day when you wake up and wonder for two or three minute seconds where you are, but as soon as that has died away it's really the end of it.

So, back in the now. Back to reality. The waiting for the next trip can begin. Whether with these same people or in some different group composition, time will tell.
