Nova Daily - 6 May 2026: Preview
Hi!
As nobody would have guessed, the Uzbek Javokhir Sindarov will be playing Indian World Champion Gukesh Dommaraju in a match for the World Champion title. The silly guesswork can begin.
However, we did get something nice today in the form of a preview: Sindarov and Gukesh were paired up in the Super Rapid & Blitz tournament, which is hosted in the Muzeum Historii Żydów Polskich (the Museum of the History of Polish Jews) in Warszawa. For me and my fellow Caro-Kann players, it became even better, since Gukesh did us a service. Or, more accurately, Sindarov did. But more on that later.

In my post on 4 May, I roasted the news for being such a poor soap series. One of the points I brought up is its lack of previews. It requires a high level of arrogance to presume that your series wouldn't need such a thing, and I would certainly have used previews much more if I actually cared for the level of traction to my blogs.
Previews serve as mini-trailers for the big thing. They're usually a combination of some imagery that may spike your interest in a "what is this about?" kind of way, and some lines of text that sound profound, mysterious, and foreshadowing (especially if they're taken out of context, which is exactly what they do).
Here's one cool trailer:
I presume that you could make a nice trailer for the World Championship match based on the footage of this game between Gukesh and Sindarov. I'm not going to, though I might toy around with some ideas in my head.
That said, the game they played today was certainly worth watching:
Hopefully, the match will be very entertaining indeed. I for one will be looking forward to seeing it.
