INTRODUCTION

This gambit is a very recognizable and depends on exact moves needed to win and today I am going to teach you this gambit so that you don't fall for this gambit. Although some moves are very weird.

HOW TO PLAY THE LAZARD GAMBIT

Usually the Lazard gambit is played as black so I will teach this opening from black and White's perspective(Although for white I will teach how to prevent the checkmate along with taking the sacrificed peices).

When white starts with pawn d2 to d4 we will respond as black with knight g8 to f6 as shown below.

after this as white will want complete control of the center then he/she will play knight b1 to d2 getting ready to to take complete control of the center then black plays the(according to me) blundering pawn move pawn e7 to e5 as shown below.

After white captures black's e pawn then it is threatening to take the f6 knight. Then black will push his/her knight to g4 and then the position will look like the position below.

Looking at this position white could move his/her pawn front allowing black to take the pawn but instead in the Lazard gambit white moves his/her h2 pawn to h3 saying okay you can take my e pawn I don't care. After this the black is advised to take the e pawn in general but according to Lazard gambit black should sacrifice his/her knight at e3 and then the position will look like the position below.

Most opponents will accept this gambited knight and then they will be checkmated like shown below in 2 moves.

So then after this the thing to wonder for white is "how can I take the 2 peices without being checkmated by black's queen?" The answer for those people are below.

TAKING BLACK'S KNIGHT AND PAWN WITHOUT BIENG CHECKMATED AS WHITE

We can take the knight and the pawn without bieng checkmated by one small difference which can completely give you the advantage is the knight b1 to c3 and if black continues with the premature gambit now he is in for a surprise. The white bishop will capture the knight and the pawn can also capture the knight. The two ideas for white are shown below.

FOR CAPTURING USING THE BISHOP

FOR CAPTURING USING THE PAWN

OUT OF THE TWO IDEAS I WOULD SUGGEST TO CAPTURE THE KNIGHT USING THE BISHOP OTHER WISE TAKING WITH PAWN WILL RUIN THE KINGS SIDE CASTLING
