Hi everyone, this blog is a guide for players who have skipped the rule explanation of 4 player chess or for anyone who is just curious about what the rules are. But before I start, I have to thank the 500 people who got my blog to 500 views. I hope ot gets to 550 to 600 views. So without more stalling, I present a Chessnerd300 blog " 4 player chess, the basic rules"

The way to play 4 player chess on chess.com is not too different from normal chess but still has its differences with the game I'm sure we're all familiar with.

Area of the board is not the same as you would think. It's not the normal 64 squares that you are used to, it is 160 squares! That's almost the size of 3 normal boards!

Promotion isn't the same as normal chess either, in normal chess, the whole point of promotion is to get your pawn to the other side of the board where there you can turn your pawn into any piece you want (excluding not changing at all or turning into a king). But in 4 player chess the rules are a bit different so instead of going up 14 squares and getting through all the defences to promote, you can just get into the middle of the board where you will get a queen with a one on it.

Look out! it's not as simple to stay away from danger as it is in normal chess. Remember, there are three other teams scheming on your doom so you have got to be very careful playing around. Especially if you like your knights and bishops.

Checkmate is a lot harder to avoid when you are playing the intimidating game of 4 player chess. You see, just because there are 4 players doens't mean that only one of the teams can attack you. Turns go in a circle, so if one team checks you it will make you vulnerable to every team on the board.

So now you know what to be careful of the next time you play 4 player chess.
