History: domain was originalliy set up in 1995 by "Aficionado"  a company based in Berkeley, California with the goal to sell a piece of chess tutoring software called "Chess Mentor"....

Internet entrepreneur Erik Allebest and partner Jarom severson in 2005, purchased the domain name, and then created a team of developers to redevelop the site as a chess portal. was released in june of 2007 progressed little by little to bring us one of the best chgess sites of the world,

even from being an accumulation of bits now with the version 3 a fancy graphics, incorporating a lot of tools to bring us the posibility to make better our chess.

The first officila game online of chess,com was played the on July 8, 2007, between "erik" and "nyarlathotep".
