hello! Today I'm starting a new series called the opening crash course which I'm going to make blogs about all 33 openings and I'm starting off with the king's gambit.

WHAT IS THE KING'S GAMBIT?

The King's Gambit is a chess opening that begins with the moves 1.e4 e5, 2.f4. This opening is named after the gambit where White sacrifices a pawn to gain control of the center. It is considered a very aggressive opening, and is favored by players who like to play tactical positions.

The main idea behind the King's Gambit is to control the center of the board with the pawn on f4, and to develop the pieces quickly. White can castle kingside and bring the rook into the game quickly. Black can either accept the gambit and take the pawn on f4, or decline it and move a different pawn.

The King's Gambit has been played for centuries, and has been used by many famous players throughout history, such as Paul Morphy, Wilhelm Steinitz, and Bobby Fischer. However, modern chess theory suggests that the opening is not completely sound and it is now mostly seen in blitz and rapid games.

DO'S AND DON'TS

The King's Gambit can be very tricky but these are things you should do and don't during the opening of the Kings Gambit.

This Position's  not good for White. First even though we have the center, we are going to lose material. You will be down a knight after you Bg2 to G2+ and lose the rook.

This Position's much better for white, first off  we have the center and are ahead in development, all we have do is hold the center and long castle and white is very happy in this position.

Here is a sneaky little trap that you can use but it's not the easiest to pull off

CONCLUSION

Overall, the King's Gambit is a fun and exciting opening to play, but requires a good understanding of tactics and strategy to be successful. I hope you enjoyed this blog! My next blog is going to be  about the Queen's Gambit! So yeah goodbye.
