1. b4 - invisible trap
Hi all! So I decided to return to the old traditions. Become a chess blogger again. I will do so. Maybe even a YouTuber lol.
Is there anyone here who watched my games? Surely many people have noticed that I only play 1. b4 for White. This move should not be underestimated. This is a very wild weapon against beginners and a good game against non-novices. You definitely won’t be left in the red in this opening. And today I will tell you about one trap in it
What's good about this move? Firstly, it is much better than 1. g4. If you load these two moves into Stockfish 14 you will feel the difference. On move b4 the computer will answer you with a score of 0.0. This is the same as the starting position. To the move g4 the computer will answer 1.5 in favor of Black. That is, in essence, Black has 1.5 extra pawns. Therefore, you should not confuse them.
What's the plan for this move?
The first and most important thing is the large diagonal. Bishop c1 will ideally put pressure on Black's position through the diagonal. The second is simply a wonderful development. Pawn b4 is easy to defend either with a3 or b5 followed by e3 and a4. The move b4 is also the first stage which will prevent Black from actively developing the queenside. If you advance the pawn to b5, strengthen it with the moves c4 and a4 and place your two bishops and a queen on the queenside, you will have an ideal attack on the kingside and you will prevent Black from developing normally.
Variants
Black has a whole arsenal of normal moves. And today we will look at the most popular of them.
1... e5
1... e5 is the most popular move of all. You will encounter it quite often, although I encounter other moves more often. But e5 will be best for you. This is where you can start laying a trap.
Yes, this is not a complete analysis of the opening, but if you want, I can do a complete analysis. For now, hammer this trap into yourself. If you like the blog so much, I will do a full analysis of the opening with additional traps, theory and make you love this move. The main thing to remember is that underestimating this move can result in defeat.
Thank you all and have a nice day everyone.
