3 Key Ideas to Improve Board Vision
Today I wanted to discuss a very important yet often ignored topic.
Don’t you get impressed when you see a top player analyzing and seeing things immediately? It seems as if they were robots rather than humans.

If you think that what makes them so good at seeing and analyzing moves is their ability to calculate and see moves ahead, I’d say that’s half-truth.

Although I am not claiming that the ability to calculate is not important (it definitely is), it is equally important to know where to focus when analyzing a position.

This is the important shortcut that top players have. It’s not important to have a lot of ideas when playing a position but to know the critical things from it. In this case, less is more.
In a broad sense, the board vision is to look at the whole position and see what’s happening. But knowing the critical elements in every position will help you to know how to improve your position in the future. Additionally, it can also hint you where the future action of the game will most likely take place.
