Very Nice and Instructive Checkmates With a Pawn
When learning chess, studying common checkmates positions, what we call checkmate patterns, is very useful.
The main advantage of knowing these patterns in advance is to easily spot them during your games or to try to force them. While some patterns can be found fairly easily without knowing them, some patterns can take some time to find them if you have never seen them in advance.

One thing that I noticed about checkmate patterns is that very few of them involve a pawn giving the checkmate. The pawn very often covers an escape square for the opponent’s king or supports the piece giving the checkmate, but it very rarely delivers the killing blow.

However, studying some checkmates featuring pawns can be helpful to learn new checkmating ideas. It is also a very useful way to show how pawns can be attackers, as all the other pieces do.
While studying some of the nicest checkmates with pawns that I have come across, we’ll study the positions deeply to work on our overall tactical skills.
