Poem to Chess vs. Checkers

“Checkers is like chess”

That’s a misconception I would like to address 

Chess is a complex mind game

While checkers is a confined flame

A minimalistic dispute

No one can refute

I suppose it’s too acute

Rather than a long pursuit

There isn’t much that can go on

You can’t even move a pawn!

*yawn*

Checkers is so withdrawn

On the contrary, chess is a marathon!

Checkmate!

It’s hard to anticipate

Let me demonstrate…

Your king has nowhere to move

In chess, you have more to prove

You corner your enemy

You’ve got territory!

A friendly game is nothing compared to a war 

Checkers is anything but hardcore

Chess is a warfare

You have to be aware

So let’s settle this once and for all 

Your king is in check, as I recall
