REALIZING A MATERIAL ADVANTAGE 2

                        We all know how difficult it is to win a winning game.If have material advantage i.e. we are a piece or pawn up then it is not always easy to convert the material advantage into win .Fortunately  there are some principles that can guide us when we have material advantage.

The 2 most important principles when we have material advantage are 

1.SIMPLIFICATION

2.ATTACK

It is lot easier to win in the endgame with extra material than in the middlegame with queens on the board.So the side having material advantage should look for simplification of position.

Simplification means exchanging of pieces so that complex or difficult position is turned into simple position.

But as always simplification is not possible or not beneficial then the other principle is we should ATTACK.

If we can post our pieces on good squares and create an attack with our extra material then our opponent will itself look for exchanging pieces to reduce the intensity of our attack.So whenever simplification is not possible or not beneficial then we should try to create an attack with our pieces.

These both principles are opposite to each other and which principle we should implement depends on the position.

We will see this principles in a game.

Now we will see where white made a mistake.

So whether you should simplify or attack depends on the position and that will come with practice and experience.
