Hello everyone, this is @TheChessKnight2000, a new blogger! This is my first blog and it's going to be a series on Gambits. This one is about the Danish Gambit. happy.png grin.png tongue.png wink.png

The Danish Gambit is a gambit that sacrifices two pawns for quick development and attack. Also known as The Nordisches Gambit in Germen and Noords Gambeit in Dutch, the danish gambit is named after Martin Severin From, a danish grandmaster. There are two ways in the danish gambit. Take with the knight or triple gambit.

Danish Gambit with Nxc3

1.e4  Typical beginning move.   e5  2.d4? Looks like an odd move but this is part of the gambit.   exd4  3.c3?  Now were sacrificing another pawn but for a good position.

 dxc3  4.Nxc3  Nc6  Also Bc5 is a normal developing move.

(4.Bb4 Good developing move. 5.Bc4 Bxc3+  6.bxc4 And white are in a good position.)

(4.Nf6 Bad move, then the pawn can kick the knight. 5.e5  Qe7 The enemy queen can pin the pawn to the king but the white queen can unpin the king with Qe2  6.Qe7 )

5.Nf3  Nf6  6.Bc4 Bc5 Normal developing moves.

(6.Bb4 Like 4.Bb4, this move is a good developing move but we can kick the knight out by e5 7.e5 d4 D4 is the best move.

(7.Ng4  Bxf7+ 8.Kxf7 Ng5+ If the knight moves then you can sacrifice the bishop on f7 then you can make a double attack on the king on f7 and the knight on g5))

  7. e5 Get the knight out so it's not protecting d5... Ng4  8. Bxf7+  Gets the king to f7 then the queen can fork the king on f7 and the bishop on c5.

Triple-Gambit

1.e4  Typical beginning move.   e5  2.d4 Looks like an odd move but this is part of the gambit.   exd4  3.c3?  Now were sacrificing another pawn but for a good position. dxc5  4.Bc4 Now we're sacrificing another pawn for two bishops. cxb2

5.Bxb2 White has two bishops on the long diagonals and black is not doing good on development. Bb4+ Best move for black. 6.Kf4 It may look like a bad move but it's moving the king out of the way and the bishop is threatening a rook. Nf6  7.e5 d5 We want to kick the knight but the best move is d5 counterattacking the bishop. 8.Bb5+

c6  9.exf6 cxb5 10.fxg7 Rg8  And white is in a good position.

(8.Nfd7 9.e6 fxe6 10.Bxg7 Rg8, 11.Qh5+ And black is not doing good.

Danish Gambit Declined

1.e4 e5   2.d4 d6  Now it's like the pirc.
(2.Nc6 3.d5 d5 4.Nce7 Nc2 5.Ng6 White has a good advantage.)
(2.exd4 3.c3 Qe7 Best move, the queen pins the pawn to the king. 4.Bd3 d5 5.cxd4 dxe4 6.Bc2)
(2.exd4 3.d3 Bxd3 White is ok with good delevolment)
(3.dxc5 Best move Nxe5 4.Nf3 If you want to trade knights. Nxf3+)
(f4 If you want to grab space)

All right, that was a lot on the danish gambit, and thank you for reading! My next gambit blog should be in a few weeks. Please comment if you enjoy it or want to tell me a suggestion or something I can do to improve the blog. I hope you have a good day. happy.png grin.png tongue.png wink.png
