"I am a positional player"
That's what I would answer when asked how do I like playing my chess games.
I just returned to playing chess after I stopped in frustration about six or seven months ago. I hit a plateau, I couldn't beat players with higher rating than me, so I decided to take a break.
I started reading chess books, especially Nimzovich's books. I always thought myself to be a strictly positional player, but reading those books I realized that I had no idea what positional play is.
I wasn't a positional player, I just was a passive player. And a tactical passive player at that. Examining my games in search of positional themes showed me this.
Now, I do try to apply some positional play into my games, since now I have a little more understanding of where it should be applied.
Somehow, I felt it would be interesting to share my discovery.
