It was in Zurich. The first president of FIDE whose name was Dr. Rueb suggested to play an easy game in chess to the Alekhin's wife, but only if her husband will keep silent. Alexander Alekhin promised that he will be so quiet and walked away from them. But then he came back and discovered that his wife's position was deteriorated. Alekhin waited for the right moment and stealed the president's rook.

Alekhin came back again in five minutes. His wife's position was hopeless. Alekhin repeated his maneuver.

After much deliberation Dr. Rueb shouted: 'What happened?! My rooks are disappeared!' The president suspected Alekhin, but Alekhin answered: 'Sorry, I can't help you. I promised you to be silent...'
