Adult Study

Part of the notion that I want to get "serious" about chess feels weird.  I can only do so much.  My mind is what is and I am not a young kid.  I have a job, a family and other interests, but I want to know more.  So here I am, so busy that I regularly say I don't have time for things, but I am setting chess goals.

The goal is fairly straight forward.  I want to make it to a 1000 rating in Daily and Rapid.  At the time of this writing, my Daily rating is 840 and my Rapid rating is 740.  So... What to do?

I am making time each day to play and study.
I work on 5-10 puzzles a day.
I am reading through Logical Chess by Chernev.
I am studying an Italian Game course on Chessable.
Finally, but likely most importantly, this weekend I start lessons with a coach.

I can see enough to know that even the tip of the iceberg is infinitely deep, and while I want success, I want understanding more.

I am heading into the Christmas break, which will be heavily populated by sleep, Star Trek, sewing and chess.  One adjustment that my coach has already suggested is playing longer rapid games, at least 30 minutes.

We will see where this goes, but I look forward to the ride.
