Combine Wordle and Chess, You Get Chessle!

Unless you've been living under a rock, then you've likely heard of Wordle, a game which you have to guess a five letter word with six guesses. Wordle has gone viral since it gained popularity throughout social media. Since then, different variants of this game had been made inspired by this like Nerdle, Waffle and Dordle. Then eventually came a chess themed wordle in which you guess a sequence of moves both played by white and black.

The rules of Chessle:

Before I go into explanation, there aren't any spoilers in this blog for those who do play this daily so don't worry, don't close this tab and keep reading. I will be using July 6th's Chessle as an example.

You have your first guess. It can be any sequence you desire! I just start off with the following sequence. My first guess:

As you might tell, it wasn't a great start but it wasn't the worst either. Since there are yellows, those moves highlighted in yellow can give me an idea. There is d4, d5, c4 and Nf6. With my prior knowledge, it's likely it would start with 1. d4 d5 2. Nf6... and so on.

My second guess:

My second guess was better by a bit. I guess a real opening for my second guess, being the Benko Gambit Fully-Accepted with g6. This gave me Catalan vibes because I'm a really good at tilting 1100 daily player. Possibly a symmetrical kingside fianchetto maybe? I was thinking about it, only for 10 seconds lol. Now I will present my third guess.

"Oh, how interesting", my 6am tired mind thought. No really, it was interesting. A King's Indian with white a kingside fianchetto too?! I don't know, I was just thinking things.

Back to the Chessle explanation, I saw this for another two minutes. Maybe d5 was before black fianchettoing the bishop? I thought about that train of thought for 30 seconds. Okay, maybe my fourth guess will be the last guess we need to find information and on the fifth guess, we'll find the mystery sequence!

My fourth guess:

After submitting my fourth guess, I realized that I played dxc4 twice on guesses 3 and 4 and never realized that they weren't in the move order, what was I thinking?

After that mistake, I thought I had an idea. So I made the following sequence below.

My fifth guess:

My fifth guess was correct and another Chessle was completed. I didn't feel like going back to bed so I just watched YouTube until 7:30 lol.

Thanks to Jack Li for making this game, this blog post wouldn't exist without your game! The answer was a Neo-Grunfeld Defense. That's all for this post, if you have a blog topic suggestion please tell me!

As for a hint for my next blog, have you ever wanted to deliver a sacrifice on your opponent? My next blog is coming out later this month! Stay tuned.
