All You Need To Know About En Passant
Hello! Today I’m here to talk about En Passant!
En Passant
In French, En Passant means “in passing.” The reason En Passant was invented was because people didn’t seem like it was fair that a pawn could move two spaces and the other pawn could just sit there and watch. Let’s take a look here at an example of En Passant.

Once the pawn moves to h5, it looks like black has a clear advantage, but white has a little trick up their sleeve. EN PASSANT.

Now black can’t stop white from promoting that pawn. See how quickly things can turn and how ingenious En Passant is?
The Rules
The rules for En Passant is that you can only take the pawn right when black pushes his pawn forward two squares and needs to be adjacent and parallel to the pawn… and I think that that’s all you need to know for now!
Wait.. One last thing…
