How to get Better at Chess
First off, you should know how a chess tournament works. How does the computer know which opponent to play in the first round? Well, I got my answer. The computer divides you into 2 groups from rating. The first groups highest rated player would play the second halves highest rated player. Then the second highest rated player would play the second highest player in the other half. At the end is a diagram.
Then if you won the first round, you would play someone who won the first round.
Which Section Should I Play In
When it comes to sections, the directors will not let you play in a section that you are already higher rated. My opinion may be to play in a section higher rated than you. If you loose, you will not drop in much rating because they are way higher rated than you. If you win, you will boost way up in rating. Plus, you could also learn some knew tactics and some fancy moves. If the directors don’t let you play in a higher rated section than you, simply just go to the section that fits you perfect.
What to do
You should do at least thirty to an hour a day of tactical puzzles. Puzzles help train your brain and help you find more and better tactics in a game. Once you finish a game, remember to eat to get energy for your next game. Go outside and take a walk to fresh your mind so it’s easier for you to think. If you feel like you can’t focus and are in a tough position, simply go to the bathroom and splash some water in your face. After each game, if you want to, you should go over the game with your chess coach.
