Ah, yes. The Caro-Kann is a great way to have a good defense against white. The full name is the Caro-Kann Defense. The main line is e4 and then c6.

I went onto analysis and found out that after c6, white should play d4 and then black should play d5, to break for the center.

There are 3 other moves to play after d5. Nc3, Nd2, and e5.

If e5, you control more squares in black territory. If black plays e6 to play c5, they block their white squared bishop.

The next is Nc3, then black would take the pawn on e4 and the knight on c3 takes the pawn on e4. Then black plays Bf5 attacking the knight and will develop their pieces.

If Nd2, then black will play c5 and white plays takes on d5 and blacks queen will take on d5 back. The Ngf3 and cxd4 and then bishop to c4, attacking the queen and pushing it back and white has developed most of their minor pieces. Then Qh5 comes next.
