The berlin is one of chess's most played openings. It goes like this

In chess, you are supposed to play for the win. You play openings to get the advantage(Or an equal position that suits you)
There are some openings where people don't play anything that suit them, they just play boring lines where they beg for a draw from the start, like exchange french
But the berlin is worse
At least the exchange french actually makes it hard for the other player to win making it so the better chess player usually wins
