The London System starts with 1.d4. And except the Englund gambit, any move that black plays we will play Bf4.

The London can be great for both defense and attack. But sometimes it can be easy to play against. Let's see some of the advantages and disadvantages of it.

Advantages Disadvantages
Easy to play (There is a London setup) Many people know about it
Have high winning and draw percentage The setup will weaken the light squares

So let me show you the setup (For white)

So, castling kingside can lead to a draw, but queenside can lead to an aggressive game between two sides. You can play Rcg1, push the g and h pawn and try to play Nfe5 and Ndf3 to gain the center (Most opponents won't let you do that)

So now, I can show you some traps to play:

1. Bishop sac
In order to setup this trap, you need to open the h file for your rook and your opponent must castle kingside.
Here is how you open the h file:

Now, I will show you how:

This is an example.
2. Queen trap against KID

We can continue:

So, let's see a game from Carlsen playing London

Hope you enjoyed!
