Fool's Mate, also known as the Two-Move Checkmate, is the shortest possible checkmate in the game of chess. It occurs when one player (usually White) makes two critical mistakes, allowing the opponent (usually Black) to checkmate them in just two moves. Here's how it happens:

1. White moves their pawn from f2 to f3 (or f1 to f3).
2. Black moves their pawn from e7 to e5.
3. White moves their pawn from g2 to g4.
4. Black moves their queen from d8 to h4, delivering checkmate.

In this situation, the White king is trapped by its own pawns and cannot escape the checkmate delivered by the Black queen. Fool's Mate is a rare occurrence in practical play, as most experienced players recognize the danger of these moves and avoid falling into this trap.
