- Tip: In tough positions, we have to be calm and collected. Relaxation is key to Recollection is a famous advice.
A method to be cool is :- Drink Water - Imagine you have a good bishop. We have to look at what it attacks, what it protects, what is it's plan, etc. Same way, we have to look at all the pieces. One of our plans should be how to activate bad pieces. For example, let's look at this game:-
- 2) What is a bad bishop???
- Answer:A bishop that is covered by it's own pawn structures and is not able to fire in rhythm with the other pieces is called a bad bishop.
- We are going to look at how to convert a bad bishop into a active bishop. The most practical way would be to maneuver the bishop and bring it out of the pawn structure. Otherwise, you can exchange the bad bishop.
- If you keep the bad bishop, then the position becomes worse for you as your opponent can take advantage of that. For example, in a famous game Alpha Zero sacrificed its bishop and Stockfish had an extra bad bishop. But Alpha Zero restricted the bad bishop as much as possible and Alpha Zero converted the game into a win. Let's see if you can figure out how Alpha Zero did this :
