Most people who play chess are often teased, mainly because majority of people are called "nerds" for what they play. But let's look at it this way: Playing chess makes you smarter. Also, if someone calls you a nerd for playing chess, they're technically calling themselves stupid o.0. Think about that for a moment.

But today we will be looking at why chess is such a good game for your health.

Here are some ways chess helps your help

Chess leads to better planning skills
Chess is known for being a silent type of game, during the silence, competitors use it to plan their every move. I saw from an article that Behavioral Scientist conducted a test with two groups - One group didn't play chess at all, the other group did. The test was basically a game of pegs and beads, they used it to measure there planning skills. Obviously the people who played chess more often were better at planning than the ones who did not, also the people who played chess more often spent more time on making their decisions during the tests.

Don't believe me? Check here, it's a government website too!

    2. Chess can improve the symptoms of ADHD

In a 2016 that involved 100 children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) researchers had added chess playing in a new type of treatment approach.  Students who participated in this treatment method experienced a 41 percent decrease in both inattentiveness and over-activity following the course of treatment.

  3. Chess can possibly show protection over dementia

In a 2019 research review  Scientists found out that the "complex mental flexibility chess demands" could possibly help older people be protected from dementia

Researchers found evidence that the game challenges memory, calculation, visual skeptical skill, and critical think abilities. Which may help educe cognitive decline and postpone the effects of dementia as you age.
