ACC Summer Festival - Round 3
My first ever rated win at the club! Of course I don't mind losing, especially when I learn something valuable. But I have to confess something: this felt really good. I think I'll occasionally try to repeat the experience. :)
Alright, the game itself is probably not going to stir any chess lovers' hearts. I took black against Brian, who was also looking for his first win and is bound to have this good feeling soon too. The computer says that this is a Queen's Pawn - Chigorin variation, but I don't see the resemblance in Chess Opening Essentials. Anyway.
My analysis is included in the PGN. I was on the right side of an early blunder, and only had to play solid to hang on for the win. Brian wasn't giving up immediately, and probably with good reason, since I did manage to hang a bishop along the way. Luckily for me, the damage was mostly done by that point. Brian was a great guy, I hope he grabs his own win before this tournament ends.
I notice this game viewer sometimes chokes on null moves and doesn't show the evaluation marks, symbols, and start comments all the time. You might try pasting the PGN into your chess software.
By the way, I'm not sure exactly what the use of posting these games is, but I find it a good way to keep the analysis happening. These are clearly the views of a crummy amateur. If you have any insight, or even played the game against me and want to continue the review, please feel free to say whatever, whenever…
