Why Blunders Happen Right After a Trade

Why Blunders Happen Right After a Trade

You just traded pieces. The position looks simpler. Safer.
And then — blunder.

This is one of the most common traps in practical chess:
players relax immediately after an exchange and stop calculating.

Why it happens:

You assume the tension is gone.
You overlook in-between moves.
You rush to "move on" without checking consequences.
Example:

...Bxf3
Qxf3?? Nd4! — and the queen is lost.
Next time you trade, take one more look. The danger might have just started.
