Sticking to basic principles
Just recently i played a game here on chess.com that reinforced my belief in basic principles. As the game left book on move 10 (at least for me), i already equalized but was unfamiliar with the arising position. But nevertheless using basic principles brought a swift win and the full point for black . The principle in question is:
- When you are ahead in development, try to open the position
and the other side of the coin:
- When you are behind in development, try not to open the position.
