Training Update

Another long day of work. In addition to my normal work I had to look at a couple of issues for other team members. We keep having some issues with our fibre channel driver apparently trying to clean up screwed up scsi commands during failover of the device to its partner. This causes the system to crash, and that means I get to go dig through the system core dump and figure out why it crashed. It involves a combination of looking at stack traces, examining source code, matching it up with disassembled code, tracking data through the stack and registers, and digging through kernel data structures to piece together what happened. Fun stuff, but it can be tiring.

So as a result of that, I didn't get as much training in today as I had planned. I worked through a couple more Morphy games, and worked through the first game in John Nunn's Understanding Chess Move by Move. If the whole book is as good as the beginning, then it is definitely a modern classic along the lines of Chernev's Logical Chess Move by Move
