Training Update
I spent around an hour do tactics problems today in the tactics trainer.
I spent a little bit of time on my greeter games, and my 2 rated games.
I worked through the 2nd team game between Stauton and Morphy, and then through the first 5 games of Morphy's match with Lowenthal in Beim's Paul Morphy: A Modern Perspective. Beim doesn't hesitate to point out where Morphy was lacking in knowledge, but also delights in pointing out that in many ways Morphy was a modern player and providing examples of what he is talking about.
I spent about an hour playing a game in Chessmaster. I'm not sure why. I reloaded it on this system recently so I thought I'd play a rated G/30 game. The computer as usual proceeded to throw away some material. My king was a bit exposed after I traded off a piece while trying to trade down into an endgame allowing him to aim his rooks at my king. I was able to liquidate to a won ending though and finished him with mate.
I also spent time reading through more of Kotov's Think Like a Grandmaster. I have almost finished the section on analysis of variations, and then I will be working through the section on positional judgment.
