Ratings devaluation
According to Amelia at chess.com, new members who join using Android start with a rating of 1800, not 1200.
Why should Android users be treated differently? It seems like a marketing gimmick to attract Android users at the expense of everyone else. In effect it means a massive devaluation of chess.com ratings.
The whole point of the ratings system is that by playing someone of a similar rating you can expect to get a player of a similar level and hence have a good game. This is no longer true. It took me quite a while to reach 1800 myself, and now any beginner who barely knows the rules of chess starts with 1800.
I am considering resigning from chess.com.
