Hey y'all, never written a blog before but I feel like one of the discussions that are rarely had are the cognitive benefits of playing chess. They are constantly talked about in articles but what does the actual research say? In a dissertation by Darrin K. Berkley, there was a valid point brought up on the impact of chess on critical thinking and mathematical development in its application to community college students. The study goes on to draw the relationship between playing chess and the higher levels of an education model known as Bloom's Taxonomy: Synthesis, Analysis and Evaluation.

I am starting this blog to begin a greater discussion on the involvement of chess in education, specifically the creation of chess curriculum so that it is possible to create a more consistent approach to teaching chess.
