Ever been at a loss for moves in quiet middlegames? How can you overcome this problem? I think what is required when entering a quiet middlegame is a strategic assessment of the position. First determine what the strengths and weaknesses of your position are and then look for moves that optimise the strengths and minimize the weaknesses. In the following position, how would you assess black's strengths and weaknesses (note that your weaknesses are your opponent's strengths)? Once you have done that, find black's best move.
