I drew with Judit Polgar!
Hello there!
A few days ago it was my birthday, so for this special occasion, I would like to share one of my favourite achievements against the player I look up to, who is none other than Judit Polgar! If you don’t know who I am talking about, you should stop right here, and continue reading only, if you become familiar with her name (and her sisters, Sofia and Susan too)!
Now that you know she was the best woman player ever, I will tell you that (especially since she is Hungarian and I am Hungarian too) she was my idol my whole childhood. She has always inspired me, made me want to become better, and obviously it was my dream to be able to play against her. It would have always been an honour to play against her. Although, it wasn’t until years later, at the Polgar Chess Festival when I finally got the opportunity to play against her in a simul, along with 30 other people. I remember, it was extremely hard to get selected for the simul, and at first I wasn’t chosen. Later however, just before the start of the simul, I was told that one of the participants had to withdraw, and one of the organizers whom I knew arranged a spot for me, so in the end I was able to play against her. It was so exciting!
The game ended in a draw, which was well deserved, because we both had our chances to win, but mistakes were made on both sides. Let me show you how the game went! 🙂
What do you think of the game? Have you ever played against her or her sisters? Let me know in the comments!
