I drew with Judit Polgar!

Hello there!

A few days ago it was my birthday, so for this special occasion, I would like to share one of my favourite achievements against the player I look up to, who is none other than Judit Polgar! If you don’t know who I am talking about, you should stop right here, and continue reading only, if you become familiar with her name (and her sisters, Sofia and Susan too)!

Judit Polgar and young me at the Polgar Chess Festival

Now that you know she was the best woman player ever, I will tell you that (especially since she is Hungarian and I am Hungarian too) she was my idol my whole childhood. She has always inspired me, made me want to become better, and obviously it was my dream to be able to play against her. It would have always been an honour to play against her. Although, it wasn’t until years later, at the Polgar Chess Festival when I finally got the opportunity to play against her in a simul, along with 30 other people. I remember, it was extremely hard to get selected for the simul, and at first I wasn’t chosen. Later however, just before the start of the simul, I was told that one of the participants had to withdraw, and one of the organizers whom I knew arranged a spot for me, so in the end I was able to play against her. It was so exciting!

Do you recognize this GrandMaster who was watching my game? He is Pal Benko! Benko Gambit? Does it ring a bell?

The game ended in a draw, which was well deserved, because we both had our chances to win, but mistakes were made on both sides. Let me show you how the game went! 🙂

What do you think of the game? Have you ever played against her or her sisters? Let me know in the comments!

I met her and her sister again, years later :)

You can also watch the game commentated by me on YouTube channel, where I often upload educational content! You can check it out here:

I am Fruzsi, a 27-years-old Woman Fide Master from Hungary. I started playing chess when I was 8 years old, and since then I participated in many national and international tournaments. Most of the time I was in the first 3 on the Youth Hungarian Chess Championships between girls under 18 (even won a few), and I got silver and bronze medals on the Youth European Union Chess Championships. I hold a WGM and a WIM norm, and my highest Elo was 2266.
I also have a master degree in Psychology.

Teaching experience
I have a few years experience in teaching children and adults, in groups and individually as well. Currently, besides having my own private students, I am also a chess instructor at Girl Boss Chess.

Teaching method
Lessons are available in English and Hungarian, mainly for students below 1700 FIDE/1800 chess.com rapid rating. Please, contact me for the current rates happy.png
I can help you to improve your chess for example by strenghtening your calculation, analysing your games and finding your common mistakes, teaching you more about middle game stategies, endgames, and sharpening your tactical vision. Nevertheless, if there is anything else in particular you would like to work on, let me know. I like to make my classes as interactive as possible, because I believe this is the best way for the students to gain knowledge, including chess, while having fun. From me you can learn more about the psychological factors in chess, which can also make you a better chess player!

I am also available for training games. (blitz, rapid or classical games, price depends on the format)
