Introduction

Hello Dear Chess Players!

Well, I have decided to start blogging, and it means, that I will write articles on educational and fun chess, my chess experience, and sometimes also sport/chess psychology, because in this way I don’t only help you improve and gather more knowledge in these matters, but also myself, which is a win-win, right? 😊 I plan to post weekly, so if you are interested in the previously mentioned subjects, I would appreciate your follow 😊

Many of you know me already from my streams (if not, you can check me out at https://www.twitch.tv/szefru ), but for the ones, who don’t, or would like to know me better, here is a short introduction:

My name is Fruzsina Szente-Varga, a 24-years-old Woman Fide Master from Hungary (Central Europe) and I have been playing chess for 16 years (yes, 24-16=8yo, when I started). I had already known the rules before, but I only went to my first tournament at this age and was prepared seriously by my mom (the infamous Scholar's Mate, hihi).

Later I learned more about this beautiful game and started to compete against both adults and children. By winning and finishing on the podium on the Youth Hungarian Chess Championship a few times, I qualified to the Youth European Union Chess Championship, Youth European Chess Championship, and Youth World Chess Championship as well, although I did not have the opportunity to represent my country on the YWCC, therefore I could only fight on the other two. On the Youth European Union Championship, I got silver and bronze medals, and on the Rapid European Championship, I finished 6th (scoring the same points as the 3rd).

I also participated in many national and international tournaments where I achieved a WIM norm, and 2 WGM norms (but unfortunately one of them is invalid, due to the lack of an International Arbiter). In my best time, my peak FIDE rating was 2266, currently, it’s ~2100 and I'm aiming to become a Woman International Master soon 😊
