John Purdy Memorial - Round 2
This blog follows my quest in obtaining an official FIDE rating.
In this game I try for a Semi-Slav against 1.d4. My opponent, FIDE 1654, obtains a nice position out of the opening before committing a series of positional mistakes that gives away his advantage.
Two take-aways from this game:
1. I need to increase my knowledge of the Semi-Slav.
2. I'm quilty of looking for solid drawish lines rather than continuations that lead to an advantage. I need to change my mentality from "Don't lose" to "Win! But if you can't win, draw".
