Lost because connection was gone some minutes ! WHY?

I played a game and the Connection disappeared ! A Message said the game was lost in ca. 3 min. unless Connection appeared ! What stupid rule is this that I am not able to play on as long as my gametime is running !? I lost because Connection was gone more than 3 min.!

Please explain !!!!!!
