I think you all know about the Queen's Gambit, but if you don't know and are new to chess:

There are two variations of this gambit, Queen's Gambit Accepted and Declined

Accepted:

Declined:

Now since you know the Queen's Gambit and its variations, time to know its traps!

Trap #1

Above it ends with white taking the pawn and black can't take otherwise he loses his rook. Now let's see the same thing but Black pushes his bishop pawn forward this time.

Trap #2

This position is not too bad but this has Black losing a rook or one of his 3-point pieces.

Trap #3

In this situation, in the last move white is threatening to win a pawn and capture Black's rock or check Black's king. Let's see what happens if Black moves the knight in front instead of moving the bishop.

Trap #4

If Black moves the knight in front, white's knight comes in and if white's knight takes black' knight, black can't take it with the pawn because then the queen takes the pawn forking the king and rook. The knight is also attacking to take a pawn.

What happens if the queen moves in front?

Trap #5

When the queen moves in front you sacrifice your bishop to fork Black's queen and king with your knight.

What happens if the knight moves the other way blocking the check?

Trap #6

You sacrifice your bishop by checking, move your knight and later trap Black's queen!

What happens if the king moves the other way?

Trap #7

You check with your queen and checkmate the Black king n the next move.

Hope you learned a lot from this blog!
