Hey everyone!

Welcome to another blog of TanviSTiger's Chess Blog!!

One thing I want to say before I start: Don't Click the Resign Button!!!

The first thing that might pop into your mind is probably like the question "Why?" or "Why not?". Well, I'm here to tell you why.

To start off, I will ask a simple question: Why do you resign?

You probably would answer "Well I blundered." or "I was losing by a lot of material."

With that, you would have likely resigned in a few moves or even before 35 moves were completed. I am asking everyone here why. I get it, you're losing, but do you know, what is going to happen after that?

Okay, let's say you blundered at the beginning of the game. I see many people resign, but right after that, what if your opponent does an even bigger blunder than you? Technically you are winning now. Some people don't think of that and they immediately resign right after making a blunder.

I have seen many people rated from 1300-1500 resign right after losing their rook or one of their 3-point pieces (bishop and knight). Do you know why? (Tell me in the comments what you think.) Well, when they lose either of those pieces they tend to resign because they feel like they have lost everything or they were not thinking and clicked resign.

Next, the queen. As all of you know, many people (maybe including you) resign when they lose their queen. Sure I understand. I mean the queen is your most valuable and most powerful piece. Obviously, you would resign when you lose it. But did you ever think about what might happen next? What if your opponent loses their queen in the next few moves? You don't know because you chose to resign.

You all might have a question now. "What happens if we continue but we lose the game?"

Well, it's ok. You learned something to never repeat that mistake ever again. When you resign, you don't learn anything. You just leave it and maybe repeat the same thing again. When you play and lose you can also learn some more tactics and how people with the same rating as you play. This will help improve your games.

Well, now you know why you should not resign!!!

Hopefully, many of you learned something...

See you in the next blog!!
