Andrew Tang's Deadly Opening Trap
Andrew Tang won a bullet match against Minh Le.
These are extremely strong grandmasters in bullet format. In the final game of their match, Andrew Tang caught his opponent offguard in a opening trap.
Lets see the position after 1d4 d5 2 Bf4 c5 3.e4!?
For sure 3.e3 is more common than 3.e4. Here are stats from my database
You can see that White scores 47.2% on 193 games with 3.e4, yet Black must be prepared to face this unusual move.
The game continued 3..dxe4 4.d5 Nf6 5Nc3 a6 6 Qe2
And on move 6th, Black panicked.
What were the options ?
A) You can play 6..Bg4
This is what Carlsen chose against Andrew Tang in 2021 ! Andrew is very familiar with this position, a huge advantage in 1 minute game !
B) You can play 6..g6
Black is fine in this line. Note that Black castled early !

Minh Le chose 6..Nd5?? which is the losing move
7.0-0-0! followed
as you can see, Black never got a decent position out of the opening.
Position after 13..Qf6, Black's position is hopeless

I must say I lost once against the same trick opening move with Black in a bullet game.
My opponent was GM ClassyEl @ClassyEl
I played 5..e6 on which White replied 6.d6 with a nice position for White (38 moves , 1-0)

a tricky line for sure...

I also missed a chance to turn the tables in the following position later on in that game...
