ok the bullet brawl took place today Feb 17 2024 at noon.

Who won ? @Hikaru again. He has a bullet rating of 3282 and scored 249 points ( 68 wins, 7 losses, 4 draws).

Congrats GM Hikaru Nakamura (@hikaru) for his 19th Bullet Brawl win !

I did take part in the event

Finished 119th with 7 wins , 1 draw and 4 losses. Decided to quit the tournament early on as I had a few errands to run.

Now lets see my finish with the Black pieces against an opponent rated above 2500 in bullet .

Black to play

Easy enough.

Next comes the famous Witty Alien I got paired with

He got famous with the Alien Gambit, played by @hikaru himself

So I play white against the Witty Alien streamer and Alien Gambit creator.

Black to play

So in this position, most players would move the queen from d7 and play an exchange down with Black.

But Witty Alien likes to please his fans and play romantic gambits like the Alien Gambit and sacrifice his pieces like Morphy or Tal. Even in Bullet Chess. Lets call him a modern and romantic era streamer.  He played ..Bd5!? leading to this diagram White to play

so the best way for White is not to take the queen but play the cool Bf3! and after exchanging on f3, Black will have to move the queen and White will take the rook on g8. Simple and Decisive.
Needless to say, I failed to calculate like an engine and I played the human and inferior Nxd7 and here's the position
So here Black has to play the logic Bd5+, which is a discovery check as the rook on g8 is giving a check. the position evaluation would be about even !
I would have to give up a piece with Bg4 because if  I move my king to f2
and then Black would play ..Rg2# and I would be on a receiving end of a youtube short or youtube video on Witty Alien Youtube Channel !
but the game took another turn and here I scored a win against the youtuber
But things didn't go my way when I played the US GM Andrew Hong on the right
I was White, played 1.e4 which he responded with 1..Nf6 Alekhine Defense
We reached the following Position  White To play
What would you play ?

..
Well, I decided to go for 9.0-0 but Firouzja played 9.Nc3 against Naroditsky and he won !

Here how the GM dispatched me with flawless tactics and Lightning Speed !!   (https://www.chess.com/member/speedoflight0
My opponent is rated 3000+ in bullet and finished in the 7th place. Extremely strong and I think at some point he will finish in top 3 at this event as he has the perfect style for bullet.
I hope you enjoyed these games and my own bullet brawl recap, since I decided to participate today.
