At top level, the Giuoco Piano Italian Game variation has exploded in popularity. Top GMs play it with White and with Black.

White plays Nf3,Bc4 followed by c2-c3 and d2-d3.

recent AIM Chess Rapid is the top event .

Wesley So vs Alireza Firouzja

Game ended up in a draw.

Wesley So vs Eric Hansen

White won this game

MVL vs Le Quang Liem

White also won here.

Eric Hansen - Firouzja Alireza

Black won that game

Dominguez Perez- Vidit

White won that one.

While these are all " italian Giuoco Piano" games, notice the small differences. Sometimes black plays a6,Ba7, sometimes Bb6, White sometimes plays h3, sometimes avoids it for Re1 and Nd2-f1. Black can play Qe7 or h7-h6 followed by Ne7-g6. White can play a2-a4 right away or postpone this move. etc, etc.

I will comment on yet another very important game played at AIM Chess for the latest theoretical line where the first 17 moves were known. Maxime Vachier Lagrave played the White side and Wesley So the Black side. Note that Wesley So plays this system with both colors !

Both players were incredibly accurate after running the analysis tool from chess.com; I would focus on accuracy above 98 for White and Black, and I would NOT call any blunder in this rapid game at top level.
