Top 3 Chess Players of 2024 Based on Personal Performance

Hey everyone! Welcome to another blog by me. To end 2024, I thought I'd rank the top 3 chess players based on my opinion. Feel free to tell yours in the comment below.  So without further ado, let's jump in!

3. Magnus Carlsen
Magnus Carlsen in a Norwegian chess Grandmaster. In 2024, he finished 1st in Norway Chess, Speed Chess Championship and Champions Chess Tour. Magnus is the number 1 ranked player in the world in Classical, Rapid and Blitz. Magnus has shown great performances in outside of the world of classical chess.

Magnus wins 2024 Norway Chess above 5 big names in chess.

2. Arjun Erigaisi
Arjun Erigaisi in an Indian chess Grandmaster. In 2024, he reached a rating of 2800 in classical chess. It's very hard for chess players to reach 2800 but that didn't stop Arjun from reaching 2800. He also won the WR Chess Masters Cup 2024. He also was won an individual gold in the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024 with an impressive 10/11 points with a performance rating of 2968. He was also in India's open team category in the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024. The team won gold.


Arjun Erigaisi had to beat Maxime Vachier-Laghrave to win the WR Chess Masters Cup 2024.

1. Gukesh Dommaraju
Gukesh Dommaraju is an Indian chess grandmaster. He won Tata Steel Chess India 2024. He went on to win the Candidates 2024, becoming the youngest ever to do so. He did at the age of 17. 
in the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024, he won an individual gold with an impressive score of 9/10. He got an unbelievable performance rating of 3056! He was also in India's open team category in the 45th Chess Olympiad in 2024. The team won gold. But that wasn't the end of Gukesh's success in 2024! He went on to beat Ding Liren in the 2024 World Chess Championship with a score of 7.5-6.5, becoming the youngest world chess champion at the age of 18!


Gukesh won the Candidates 2024 with a score of 9/14.


The moment Gukesh became the world chess champion.
