How to get (slightly) better at Chess.
So, you are stuck at 600 elo. How do you get better? I don't know! Studying openings sounds boring, Chess coaches are expensive, man I don't know! Well, these five things miiiiight just help a tiny bit.
1. Actually look at your opponents move.
Yes, this one might have been a little obvious, but look at the piece that was moved by your opponent, and see what possibly hanging piece it is looking at, and defend. If it isn't attacking anything, then look if its setting up some kind of discovered check or checkmate. If it doesn't really do anything, then make your move of choice.
2. Bump up your mouse speed and dont play with a touchpad.
I don't know how, but this managed to improve to improve my rating by ~70 elo, which is massive for such a simple thing. Also use a actually decent mouse and not a 50 cent Temu mouse.
3. Bullet tip: Get a high refresh rate monitor.
If you mostly play bullet, this is a really useful upgrade. If you aint rich, then this might not be for you, but it personally helped me get to 900 bullet elo.
4. Avoid losing too many pawns
If you are like me and your opponent targets a free pawn in the middle of your attack and you think, "nah, its just a pawn, my attack is more important!" that lost pawn could just lose you the game, especially if it creates a passed pawn for your opponent.
