Tactics training: 2022 Chess.com Daily Chess Championship - Round 2
2022 Daily Chess Championship - Round 2
Good Morning Chess Players!
Round 2, just like last year, was a big challenge. Several games did not go my way, so I eventually lost two of them and one ended in a draw. But it occurred to be just enough to share first place and advance to the next, third round of the championship.
As usual, when playing daily games, many interesting combinations arise. I have collected them in this post. The difficulty level of the tasks varies greatly. I didn't sort them from easiest to hardest. However, I can warn you right away that 8th and 9th are by far the most interesting.
Of course you can share your opinion in comments section and inform how many puzzles you have managed to solve.
Below there are 11 of the best puzzles from my games, so let's focus on the chessboard:
Puzzle #1 Find the fastest way to win!
Even with significant advantage you have to be vigilant not to miss the opportunity for a quick win. Of course, in such situations, you should also minimize the risk and avoid getting into unnecessary and complicated tactical fights.
Puzzle #2 Checkmate in 6 moves!
If you can make a force checkmate by constantly checking your opponent's king, take advantage of it. It does not pay off to look for other solutions with the use of quiet moves.
Puzzle #3 Find winning move!
It is one of the easiest. 10 seconds should be enough to solve it.
Puzzle #4 Fork&Fork ... everywhere! ![]()
The title itself reveals the solution ...
Puzzle #5 Find the best idea to gain advantage!
This is not a typical task normally found in books. It's more about finding a plan that will give white an advantage in this rather complex position.
Puzzle #6 Find winning move!
Another quite simple task. Let's say half minut should be enough to analyse whole line.
Puzzle #7 Find winning move!
I have to admit that calculating some moves before in the beginning I missed this solution. But now it looks obvious.
Puzzle #8 Find the best idea to gain advantage!
I think this puzzle is the most difficult. Playing the game I found only part of the solution. In the key moment I chose wrong line and missed opportunity to win.
Puzzle #9 Find winning move!
This game was really crazy. I made some inaccuracies after an opening. Then I managed to improved it and I had great chances for a draw. Eventually I lost. But there was tons of lines and tactics to calculate.
Puzzle #10 Find winning move!
Puzzle #11 Find the simplest way to win!
I had to win this game to advance to the next round.
These are all the interesting puzzles that appeared during my games. ![]()
I finished this round with 17.5 points out of a possible 20. ![]()
