Rounds 7 & 8 - FIDE Amateur World Championship

I almost thought about naming this blog "A change of character & total meltdown".  I think it will be evident why if/when you view the games.

I felt comfortable going into round 7 with a 4-2 score.  I did go out of character in my play, and I am not sure why.  I have not had a chance for the bot's to analyze my games ...

Game 8 ... Understand that I had worked all week with the exception of Monday.  I also had 4 hours of sleep the previous night.  I found it difficult to look one move ahead.  Nothing to say about this game except TOTAL MELTDOWN!
All in all, I was satisfied with my play.  I am still exhausted and withdrew from the tournament last night.  The last round is tonight, Thursday, and its a relief to be home and enjoying my family.
Lessons learned:
1.  I don't have Opening Explorer at OTB tournaments.  Memorize the lines and ideas.
2.  Try not to play a 7 day tournament and work during the day.
3.  Don't panic when you are low on time!
An interesting note, as I was shocked at how exhausted I was at the end of the day.
Friday (I worked) - Loss
Saturday (Didn't work) - 2 wins
Sunday (Didn't work) - 1 win, 1 loss
Monday (Took off of work) - Win
Tuesday (I worked) - Loss
Wednesday (I worked & 4 hours sleep) - Horrific loss.
I will stick to weekend tournaments ;-)
I hope that you enjoyed the games!
